Reggie's BarMontréal, Québec, Canada
Reggie’s is Concordia University’s campus bar, located in a heritage building on De Maisonneuve Street West. Ædifica’s redesign, inspired by the site's original vocation—the student newspaper—has resulted in a timeless space with a unique and cozy atmosphere. Among its new features, the amber tones of the materials add warmth to the space, a laminated wood wall in its interior mirrors the cement lattice of the building’s façade, and a new curtain wall subtly integrates with this façade to create an additional opening onto a terrace as well as the building’s architectural features. The space is organized into seating modules that are respectively conducive to a first date, group meetings, studying and live entertainment. The zonal space configuration thus meets all of the establishment’s purposes: study hall, student meeting place, restaurant, bar and performance venue. The renovations to Reggie’s took place over a year and were carried out in tandem with work Ædifica was also doing on the adjacent student cafe, the Hive.
