Repositioning of the Complexe DesjardinsMontreal, Quebec, Canada
Forty years after its inauguration, Complexe Desjardins is a celebrated landmark in Montreal’s downtown core and Canada’s largest real estate building complex, with an area of some 4 million square feet. Ædifica has been hired to give the St. Catherine Street facade a major facelift and to renovate the Jeanne Mance and St. Urbain Street entrances. The project will also serve to re-energize Complexe Desjardins’s commercial character within the Quartier des spectacles entertainment hub. The revamp will feature heated patios topped by a glass roof along the restaurants on St. Catherine Street. The area will be transformed into 11 white-framed urban lodges, which can stay open eight months a year and accommodate up to 20 customers each. Ædifica will also guide Complexe Desjardins partners in devising a strategy of priority entrances as well as outdoor digital displays to promote its Grande-Place events.
